The new Seattle Seahawks’ uniform is even uglier than I thought; its hideous.

Nike, here’s a tip: next time you hire a design team, be sure they have eyes and can see.

I admit it: I’m a Seahawks fan. It’s true. No one in his or her right mind would lie about that. It’s tough being a ‘Hawks fan. It’s like you admit you’re a fan of Bryan Adams. There’s nothing really wrong with the musical offerings of Bryan Adams, but there’s nothing really great about it either. It’s just kind of soft and mediocre.

The Seahawks organization unveiled their new look for the upcoming football season earlier this year with great fanfare. First impressions usually tell you a lot. My first thought: these uniforms are perfect. The look and design really matched the team’s on-field football play and performance: kind of terrible. I’ve come to expect disappointment from my ‘Hawks, so this was par for the course. But, I’m still in love with my team, like a mistreated lover who clings onto a bad relationship, hoping against hope that things will get better. I desperately wanted to give the ‘Hawks a chance and hoped that these silly uniforms — looking like they came straight out of the ridiculous and bad Oliver Stone movie “Any Given Sunday” — would somehow grow on me.

After watching some “highlights” of their first preseason game on Saturday night, the awful uniforms actually looked worse than I anticipated. They somehow looked uglier when in motion, even when they were scoring a touchdown; U-G-L-Y indeed.

I wish they’d wear something else at the next game, like their practice uniforms. Those actually look pretty good. These are practice games, so why not?

The classic uniforms from 30 years ago are still my favorite and I hope they go back to them one day. It’s when the uniform was at its peak… like Bryan Adams.

What a handsome look! Photo courtesy of seahawks.com.
