Did that mess really happen last night?
What a mess. Photo courtesy of the “Big Lead.”
My wife and I were in front of the television watching the chaotic final play of the Monday Night Football game last night between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks. As football players were still wrestling in the end zone for possession of the ball long after the game clock struck zero, and both commentators and fans alike were losing their collective minds at Century Link Field, my wife turned to me and asked: “Did they (Seahawks) win?”
It was a simple question. No simple answer. I honestly had no idea at the time. Neither did the refs. Look at that photo.
The full recap of the controversial ending can be found here.
What I now know is this: It looks like an interception by the Packers to me. The Seahawks benefitted from a bad call by the (replacement) refs. I’m glad the team I root for won the game. As a long suffering Seattle sports fan I’m shocked a terrible call actually went Seattle’s way; it’s usually the other way around. I don’t feel great about this win though. In fact, I feel a little dirty. But I’ll take it. Life is messy, and apparently so is football.
