I loved “Star Blazers” as a kid.
I’m now in my forties and I still find myself watching it on DVD.
Wildstar. Venture. Desslok. The Wave Motion Gun… It’s all so good.
I usually make fun of geeks — especially sci-fi geeks — but, in this case, I confess, I’m a total “Star Blazers” fanboy.
I used to spend hours molding the Space Battleship Yamato out of clay and re-creating scenes from the anime series as a kid. I was a really weird geek.
Call it a mid-life crisis, but this week, I found myself re-living a bit of my childhood, when a model toy of the Yamato I mail-ordered arrived.
I spent my youth building these kinds of plastic model kits . Whatever it was — cars, planes, boats, army tanks or spaceships — I was happy to build something and get lost in its world.
I have no idea when I’m going to put this one together, but it make me happy just having it around.
It may take me awhile, but I’ll post up pictures of the finished product.
