I received a gift in the mail the other day: North Side Story. It’s supposed to offer the definitive story of U2’s emergence (1978-1983) in Dublin, Ireland.

It’s a limited-edition and was offered as the latest subscription enticement to U2.com visitors and fans.

I’ve only had a chance to quickly skim through it because I’ve been so busy working on the script. I’m also deep into Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch, so it’d be really tough for me to take anything else on my reading plate right now and enjoy.

So, when I finish my current writing project and Tartt’s novel — that’s almost 800-pages long — I’ll dive right into the U2 book. I’ll probably finish it over a weekend and then read it again, just to make sure I don’t miss anything.

Just look how great that photo is! The book is full of rare shots like that. I can’t wait.
