Old maps. Photo by coreanscribe.

It’s a new year so I wanted to do a little house cleaning; y’know, out with the old, in with the new.

I started cleaning out my car and found some old maps. I picked these up along the way while on some past road trips. I haven’t traveled much at all but I do like to get a map of the destination if and when I do. I love maps. I still have my Thomas Guide in the backseat. GSP systems and digital directories have all but made old-fashioned maps obsolete. That’s a shame. I still think maps on paper are beautiful to look at and study. It’s also a great thrill to get the large ones you have to unfold and flatten out on a large table. It makes me feel like a kid again, an adventurer.

If I find anything else that’s interesting in my collection of old clutter I’ll post, but in the meantime, here are some snapshots of a few of my maps…
